The Mynabirds-Numbers Don't Lie

I am currently in LOVE with The Mynabirds. Check them out they are so danceable, sing-alongable and what ever 'able you can think of.

I heart Laura Burhenn's voice and am estatic that she has started her own thing. She used to be part of Georgie James, and sad as I was when they dispersed, I am happy The Mynabirds came out of that breakup.

Flower of Riches and Honor

I have 4 favorite types of flowers and the top two are the Peony and Dahlia.

It is Peony season right now and I can't get enough of them. Every time I am at the store I buy a bunch, only because the season will soon end and I will have to impatiently wait until next year.

One day when I have a little plot of land, I will fill it with Peony plants and I won't have to pay to soak in their gorgeous blooms. For now however I will continue to treat myself to one of the most beautiful flowers ever created.

The pictures below are of my first bouquet, since then I have gazed upon raspberry reds, pale pinks and whites. I am hoping to find that elusive yellow.

This was my view one Saturday morning and it was lovely to wake up to.

Don't let the season pass without buying a bunch for yourselves, I promise it will make your heart very happy.

Just Purchased

I happened across this lovely clutch made by girlbyAileen on Etsy and had to own it. Isn't it so pretty? I think it will be the perfect accessory for so many outfits.

I can't wait until it arrives!

Darling

My dear friend AH knows me all to well, she is also an amazing gift giver. Recently I opened a couple of gifts from her that I love! Isn't this headband adorable? It really is divine and I love wearing it. Thanks A!

Recently went on a shopping trip with Marielle and A-gril. It was my day because I managed to find some pretty great things at decent prices. A new pair of jeans, a couple of sweaters, a cute top, a great dress, pair of heels and a load of jewelry. Yeah it was a good day for me and the best part was spending it with amazing friends!

One of my new pieces of jewelry. It is so pretty and it was super cheap. I found a new place to get jewelry; Charlotte Russe, really you can't go wrong when it is $7.99, can you?

Oh yeah so because everything was so cheap and bought a few items.

Look at these stunners. Yep I fell in love when I saw them, it didn't hurt either that they were on super sale.

Dracena my Love

Dracena Park is one of the most beautiful and serene parks in the area. I clearly remember the first day I stumbled upon it. It was gorgeous spring morning and I was just finishing up my jog/walk, when I decided to turn down a road I had not been before. Through the sound of Muse piping into my ears I could faintly hear the sounds of birds. I quickly removed my earphones and absorbed the sounds of nature.

I quickly became envious of those who live on Dracena Rd, to be across from such a gem, I vowed that one day, just maybe, they would let me join their club.

For now it is my reward, to sit and relax with a book or to just pass through, sets all of my senses to bliss.

We did have a minor falling out a while ago. This is where I fell, yes right there on the road. It mocked me, took a piece of me and I took a piece of it (really should have that bump looked at). We have made up however and now it is love all over again.

Spellbound

For the next little while this is what I will be obsessing about, isn't it so pretty...

Finally I made a decision, largely based on a really great price on Amazon, and bought a new camera. Just in time for my Family Reunion, oh my nieces and nephews are going to hate me by the end.

I am so excited to get to know all of the great things it will do for me. My vocabulary will improve substantially since I will no longer be conduced to swearing fits every time I attempt to take a photo.

For now I patiently wait for the battery to charge and then I get to play.

This is also officially the last photo I will take with my Olympus, it has treated my well until a year ago, which is fine it's about 7 years old. Rest in peace little camera.

Fabulous Find

I love costume jewelry! I believe the love affair started at a very young age. My Grandmother Catherine had a lot of very beautiful pieces and after she passed on my mother let my sister Stephanie and I have at it. Unfortunately we were quite young at the time and not one of the pieces survived. We did however look fantastic in our dress-up clothes as we imagined in the basement. Sometimes I regret that we destroyed it all but at the same time I am fond of the memories. It was a link to a Grandmother that was taken from us a little to early.

I now prefer costume jewelry over anything expensive. I will not spend more than $40.00 for a piece and even then I flinch.  So when I saw this piece at Target, yes I said Target I drooled. I put off getting it for a couple of weeks, I don't know why, so when I decided to add it to my collection it was gone. Sometimes I wonder why I wait. Fortunately while in SLC visiting family I saw it at the local Target and happily snatched it up.

I love wearing it and am so glad I was offered a second chance to own it. I hope one day I have a granddaughter who to will love it as much as I do and I can pass it down. 

Changing subject a bit, but because of above mentioned  necklace I am wearing a pair of blue shoes more and more. I bought these shoes for my sister Emily's wedding when her colors were brown and blue (eventually changed to green). I love these shoes. They are not the comfortable sort by any means but they make my legs look great and I am so tall in them, bonus. Besides they are a very pretty shade of blue and I get many a compliment on them.

The Sweetest

I was lucky enough to extend my recent trip to Utah so that I could meet the newest member of the family. My youngest sister had a baby girl a couple of weeks ago. I adore this baby! She is so sweet, calm and content. She is also beautiful which could be construed as favoritism, however I don't say that about to many newborns. I only wish that I lived closer so that she will know I am her favorite Aunt. Congrats to Emily and Jake, and welcome to baby I.

Sprightly

I purchased some Daffodil's at Trader Joe's on Saturday $1.29 for a bunch. They were all tightly closed, but by Sunday morning a couple had bloomed. It made waking up blissful.

Now they have all bloomed and they smell delicious. They have made me want to be out and watch the season change to spring.

National Day of Listening

I have blogged about how much I love StoryCorps. Well from that post I received the below message. I will hopefully have time to participate on November 28th. I am looking forward to listening to my parents, sister and niece. If you have time I think it would be fun to participate.

For Dave....

Yummy!!! I know this is cruel to do to you but I thought I would make you miss living by me. I would bring one out but it would be gross by the time I arrive.

Explanation for those of you who are not David. My brother introduced me to Cactus Taqueria when I moved here. Their tacos are delicious goodness (or like crack as he describes it). He and his friend Jake survived on them when they first moved to Oakland. They take the shell, meat, cheese and fry it then add the rest.  The other day I went to lunch with Brittany, Isabel and A-gril. It was a grand time. 

Product

As a woman I have a lot of partially used product. Shampoo's, Conditioner's, Gel's, Foam's, Lipstick's, Lotion's etc.  I am on an eternal search to find the next thing that will do wonders. Unfortunately you aren't able to by trial sizes to see if it even works for you.  So you spend money and then can't bring yourself to throw it away when it doesn't work for you anymore.

This doesn't even cover half of it. My drawers are full! Time has come to get rid of it. No use taking up valuable space in my small place.

However there is a new product I LOVE..... It is Aveda's Sap Moss. It is perfect with my hair. I just need a little bit to give it the umpf it needs and the shine is gorgeous. I highly recommend it. It is my new favorite thing.

What a deal

You would think I am obsessed with shoes. I really am not. I prefer to be barefoot, I always have.  At work you can usually find my shoes somewhere under my desk. But as an adult in the working world shoes are required. Since I have to wear them I would rather be in something cute.

Newest purchase: $16 for 2 pairs of shoes. Yep, that is right a real deal.

Red Shoes

I get so may compliments on these shoes. They were a Target find and cheap. I love finding fabulous deals. I absolutely love wearing them.

I heart John

I don't really like The Gap. Occasionally I will find something that I like enough to buy. My adorable red shoes aka Sunday shoes.

At Christmas time I was at Union Square to see the lights and low and behold look at the gift the Gap gave to me.... Isn't he just swell.

Maybe I will rethink my relationship with the Gap.
